FAQs
Your first visit is designed to help us understand your health—not just your teeth. Depending on the type of appointment you schedule, we may perform a comprehensive examination that includes digital X-rays, 3D CBCT imaging (when indicated), a periodontal evaluation, oral cancer screening, airway assessment, bite analysis, and a discussion of your medical history and health goals. We take the time to explain our findings, answer your questions, and create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your needs.
In many cases, no. We first perform a comprehensive evaluation to determine the type of cleaning that is appropriate for your oral health. If a routine preventive cleaning is indicated and time allows, we may be able to complete it during your first visit. If more advanced periodontal therapy is needed, we will discuss your treatment options and schedule the appropriate care.

As a courtesy, we will submit claims on your behalf so you can receive any available out-of-network reimbursement based on your individual benefits. Our focus is on providing personalized, comprehensive care rather than limiting treatment recommendations based on insurance coverage.

The cost depends on the number, size, and location of the mercury fillings being removed, as well as whether replacement restorations are completed during the same appointment. Following your examination, we will provide a personalized treatment plan with all fees clearly outlined before treatment begins.
Sometimes. While it is possible to remove all mercury fillings during a single appointment, we often recommend treating one side of the mouth at a time. This approach allows you to continue chewing comfortably during healing and can make treatment more manageable. Dr. Rodriguez will recommend the safest and most appropriate treatment sequence based on your overall health, the number of fillings, and your treatment goals.
Mercury fillings are typically replaced with durable, biocompatible tooth-colored composite restorations or ceramic restorations, depending on the size and condition of the tooth. Dr. Rodriguez will recommend the material that best balances function, longevity, and esthetics for your individual situation.
Our office exclusively places metal-free ceramic dental implants made from zirconia. These implants provide excellent strength, biocompatibility, and esthetics while offering a durable, metal-free solution for tooth replacement.
Dental X-rays are an important diagnostic tool that allow us to evaluate areas that cannot be seen during a visual examination, including bone levels, decay between teeth, infections, and other conditions. We use modern digital imaging to minimize radiation exposure and only recommend the imaging necessary to provide safe and accurate care. If you have recent, diagnostic-quality X-rays or a CBCT scan, we may be able to use those instead of taking new images.
